Can't use ECP if  one of two Exchange servers disabled

Hello all,

For some reason if my 1st Exchange 2013 server disabled I am not able to use ECP of the 2nd Exchange 2013 server.

If I go https://exchange02/ecp I can see a start up page, but after I put my password and login name all I can see is a HTTP 500 Internal server error Page.

Is it normal?

Check the app pool status on exchange02. See whether any of them is stopped.

Thanks for the answer.

Do you mean application pools in IIS manager? Yes, I have checked them and everything is up and running

Hi Santarem01,

Thank you for your question.

If we could access owa on Exch02?

If we could access ECP by https://localhost/ecp on Exch02?

Did you try to access https://exchange01/ecp when exch02s IIS was disabled?

We could make sure there are same configuration between Exch01 and Exch02 in IIS in term of authentication.

Then we could restart IIS on Exch02.

If the issue persist, we could rebuild ECP virtual Directory by the following command:

Remove-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity "Server02\ecp (default Web site)"

New-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity "Server02\ecp (default Web site)"

After we rebuild ECP virtual directory, we must restart IIS by running iisreset /noforce from a command prompt window.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the answer,

I did Remove-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity "exchange02\ecp (default Web site)"    and it was succesful,

but when I tried to use New-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity "exchange02\ecp (default Web site)" I got this error message:

parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'Identity'.
   + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [New-EcpVirtualDirectory], ParameterBindingException
   + FullyQualifiedErrorId : NamedParameterNotFound,New-EcpVirtualDirectory

Did it using this command:

New-OwaVirtualDirectory -WebSiteName 'Default Web Site' -server <exchange02>

But the problem  still exists.

Any other suggestions which might be helpful?

Thank you!
